And Then There Were None

And Then There Were None - Agatha Christie

I "read" this when I was a freshman for English class. We were supposed to independently read one book a month and then take a test on it. I hated that class and that teacher so I didn't really read this book. I think someone told me the test was easy (none of them were easy and our teacher hadn't written any of them so she was useless if you wanted help or tried to argue an answer).

I gave the book another try because we were reading The Westing Game for book club and one of our children's librarians told me that The Westing Game is just like And Then There Were None for kids. She was pretty right. Reading it I can see how innovative Christie was and how the tropes present in this book are still in use in mysteries today.

I found it very difficult to keep the characters straight at the beginning. I had to find a cheat sheet because I kept getting confused. But once the cast of characters was smaller and the story picked up, I was pretty captivated by the mystery.
