Hiromi Suzuki’s story is inspiring. I love the family dynamic and Hiromi’s father’s willingness to let her take a nontraditional path to become an itamae (professional sushi chef). The illustrations are accurate, and the food images made me hungry. The author’s note and glossary/pronunciation guide enhance the book and reading experience.
