My dad once said to me, "You give a lot of books three stars." I do.
The book doesn't shy away from the true story of Misuzu Kaneko. The biographical bit does get pretty dark. However, the book ends with a selection of poems that lighten some of that darkness.
I like that the poems are included in their original Japanese alongside the English translation. The notes from all involved in the making of the book are also very interesting and informative.
