An Un-Calibrated Centrifuge

I never really got into this book. I don't like unexplained magic (A Wrinkle in Time is probably the exception). Even though I wasn't that into it, the characters were interesting enough to keep me reading until the racist moment when Jeanmarie does a "Japanese accent" which consists of solely switching rs for ls (which isn't even the RIGHT racist accent). At that point I was like fuck this shit, just tell me who stole the damn diamond so I can give this book away.
A really disappointing showing from EL Konigsburg. Hopefully it's just the low point of her writing because I love From the Mixed-Up Files; The View from Saturday; and Jennifer, Hecate, etc.
