I reread this today while I was getting my car washed. I like the concept a lot. The art bothered me this time around. I hope the sketchy/unfinished look was purposeful but I didn't particularly enjoy looking at it. Also why is there a girl in a bikini at a gaming competition?
The story also wraps up too neatly for my tastes. This is clearly something that has been bothering me about books lately* so I'll chalk that up to a personal preference rather than a failing of the book. Books as a rule are neater than real life. I did like all the discussion of filial piety. That part of the book was the best/most interesting aspect for me.
*I didn't feel too strongly about Level Up though because I also finished a book about the Gardner heist which is a decidedly messy, unresolved story.
